Piano Accompaniment of "My Country Tis of Thee" for Auditions

The Casper Children’s Chorale is a select chorus of boys and girls from Natrona County, Wyoming.  The Chorale has been invited to perform on National Music Conventions, been consistent winners of Heritage Music Festivals (including spring 2019 in San Antonio, Texas), and is the proud recipient of the Wyoming Governor’s Arts Award.  The Chorale is limited to eighty treble singers in 4th -8th grade.  Our primer choir,  Bel Canto, for children in grades 2nd-5th, offers positive and challenging music experiences for younger singers.

With a limited number of performances, the Chorale strives to enhance, not replace, individual school choirs.  Chorale has a reputation as a highly disciplined performing group, but its main promotion is the knowledge and love of singing.  Each September through May season includes a Fall Concert, Holiday Concert, Winter Church Tour, School Tour, the annual Mother’s Day Concert, and Spring Tour.  Chorale has toured throughout Wyoming and across our nation, from Los Angeles to New York, from Chicago to Vancouver, B.C.   After competitive recorded auditions, Chorale traveled to Spokane, WA, to sing for the 2020 Northwest American Choral Directors Conference in March.  We have been on hiatus the remainder of spring semester adhering to COVID-19 guidelines.  We have plans to adjust 20-21 as needed to comply with changing COVID protocols.

Chorale singers rehearse each Tuesday (4:00-5:30) and an additional 5:00-6:30 p.m. Thursday per month.   The Chorale is a non-profit group administered by a parent Board of Directors with funding from donations and singer’s $40 monthly tuition. Scholarships and fund-raising activities are available to help with tuition and additional trip costs.  The conductor of the Children’s Chorale is choral musician Marcia Patton, assisted by five talented and certified vocal music teachers each rehearsal.

Bel Canto is the primer choir for the Chorale.  These younger singers, led by choral music educator Terry Schreckengost, meet weekly for one hour, (Tuesdays 4:10-5:25 p.m.), and sing two major concerts.  They do not travel.  Tuition is $70 per semester.

AUDITIONS this year are online May 15-June 5, with possible August auditions TBD.   There is no cost for an audition.

1.  Fill out the audition form (see below) and submit it.

2.  Email a recording of your child singing “My Country ‘tis of Thee” in the key of F (use the piano accompaniment above on this page.)  Instructions for recording are on the audition form at https://casperchildrenschorale.com/2020-2021-auditions/ Once your form and recording of America are submitted, a staff member will contact you for a short Zoom meeting where your child has an opportunity to demonstrate pitch, rhythm, range, and interest.  It will be like a mini-music lesson, and will be non-threatening and FUN!

2nd through 5th graders (2020-2021 school year) will be considered for Bel Canto.  4th through 8th graders (2020-2021 school year) will be  considered for the Casper Children’s Chorale.

Tuition scholarships are available for Children’s Chorale.  If your child wants to sing, please do not let cost hold them back.  There are some generous donors who are interested in supporting young musicians.  Chorale is a fantastic musical and life-changing experience, but parents commit to getting children to rehearsals each Tuesday afternoon, 4:00-5:30 (St. Mark’s Church, 701 S. Wolcott).  Attendance is crucial.

Yes, we are constantly monitoring and adjusting to the current COVID protocols.  Music is an investment for a lifetime!
